Altering my Red Cashmere Sweater

I am enjoying my hubby and doggies! This is such a wonderful time of the year and I strive to be like this all year long.

I love doing projects around my house.

I have a few alteration projects that I wanted to get done.  My first project involved my red cashmere sweater. I wanted to wear the sweater to church for our Christmas service. However, it was too large. What should I do? I could have given to a charity/resell-it shop. But it is cashmere! And I really liked it and I couldn’t see giving it away.

I looked at the sweater and I decided I would take off an inch on both sides, and then finish off the seams. I started  to sew at the cuff of the sleeve of the sweater and worked my down.

Stitching the sleeve and body of the sweater

The cashmere was so soft that it glided right through each stitch.

Almost and the end and making sure I backstitch for reinforcement

I cut off the extra fabric and clipped the excess threads. I repeated the process on the other side of the sweater. The finished product turned out great. It looks like I never did a thing to it.  That’s just the way I like it. So if you have lost some weight and still want to keep a cool sweater, please look at it to see if it can be altered.  If it is not too complicated, you can recycle a sweater where it looks completely new again.

The red sweater finished

I really like how it fits in the waist, very slimming.

My hubby and I were able to color coordinate for a holiday photo.

Outfit Review

Red Cashmere Sweater – Macy’s
Blouse – J Crew
Trousers -Jones New York
Loafers – Anne Klein
Heart Necklace – Nolan Miller
Ceramic Watch – Isaac Mizrahi
Christmas Bracelet – Gift
Gold Heart Charm Bracelet – Gift
Emerald Green Ring  – Sajen

I serve in the Communion Ministry at church so I like to look polished, but comfortable. I need to be able to move and be on my feet to help with the juice and bread. I have two more cashmere sweaters, one in white and one in pink, that I need to alter the same way. It is a good feeling to know that with a few minor alterations, I can still wear these sweaters.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Boy! a lot has been going on.  This is a Christmas Tree heavy post so please be forewarned.  Christmas time is here and I hope everyone is enjoying this time and not getting caught up in the holiday rush.   My hubby and I decided to get a real tree for the second year in a row. Last year was we purchased our first real tree; but we didn’t have the appropriate stand. We had to nail rope to the wall to keep the tree steady in a plastic bucket. We were newbie live tree owners, so that was our first time and we didn’t know.

This season Hubby picked up a stellar tree from one a favorite nursery of ours here in town.

Hubby picking up the tree

It looked so nice and couldn’t wait to get the tree off of the JEEP.

Well, my hubby brought the tree into the house and put it up fairly easily. We bought the tree stand instead of using the five-gallon bucket from last year. It took maybe ten minutes to get into the stand and up; instead of the two-plus hours it took last year with the bucket and the rope. After we placed it in the stand, we moved onto the decorations and the other beautiful ornaments like trumpets, shoes, purses, cowboy hats, crosses, gold reindeer, etc. I have two other trees in the house that are smaller not live trees that will be featured in another post.

Love putting up ornaments (OPI nail polish)

The tree is a 6 1/2 foot Scottish pine and it looks so regal. I like to decorate with sparkly decor and other ornaments to make the tree different and unique. By the way polish on my nails is Keep Me On My Mistletoes and Spark-tacular! Top coat from OPI.

Back to the tree — The ornaments are mostly passed down from both of our parents and some that my hubby and I have collected over the years.

When I look at this tree I see memories and new traditions created. I don’t know about you; but I think about what it really means and Christmas does not have a price tag with it. Christmas is the birthday of Jesus! Both of my parents are with the Lord and it makes me think about love and happiness which money cannot buy.

Merry Christmas!

Have a Wonderful Blessed Merry Christmas!

Loving the Buffalo David Bitton Skinny Jeans!

JTwisdom

I won a pair of Felow skinny  Buffalo David Bitton jeans from HautePrettyPink’s blog. She can style some clothes, very talented lady.

I am so happy to win these jeans because jeans are not an easy fit for me.

I love how I can wear my longer jacket with these jeans because it makes me look taller. My embroidered  jacket is from Louis Del Olio and
it’s so different and not like what everyone else is wearing.  I love being unique and not blending in with the crowd.

The back of the jacket is just as exquisite.

I am loving the lean lines of the jeans with a longer jacket.

The jeans are comfortable and I wear a belt with them.
I chose a different subtle print in the blouse to add interest.

The Nine West boots are a favorite of mine that I bought from the Mills Outlet Mall. My bag is from Kathy Van Zeeland, and it’s a great bag to go to the movies or going shopping. The necklace in the picture above is from Nolan Miller and I get so many compliments on that necklace.

Nine West Boots

The fit is skinny but it’s very slimming, doesn’t hug my thighs at all.

The glasses are so cool because I love the 1960s chic look about them with the greek key trim along the rim.

Hair note: My curly hair is very curly so my almost waist length hair shrinks to a little below shoulder length. I have to moisturize to keep my hair soft.

The Mandarin Jacket.. A Must have!

I call this a modified mandarin jacket because of the collar since it’s not standing up.

I have worn the jacket open and closed in these photos. I have worn my hair up, down and curly. By the way that’s Gio below, he loves all the attention.

Love this jacket and how it looks and is so versatile. I love the hand detailed self fabric buttons; amazing.  I bought this good find at an outlet store and it has paid off many times because it was so reasonably priced. I don’t remember the exact price but I know it was under $12.00.

The mandarin design has been around for decades and it’s interesting to see how designers make variations in the style. This jacket has great detail and the collar is folded over instead of standing up. I like the collar with the mandarin style it gives the jacket a chic look.

My favorite Guess bag (my only Guess bag)

So far I have only worn the jacket with black pants but I am going to try one of the contrasting colors in the embroidery and see how that looks in the near future.
I get a lot of compliments on it and it makes me feel good because I paid very little for it.

I See Great Eyewear!

When I go to an eyewear store to purchase glasses and lenses, it is amazing how expensive a pair can be. The last pair of glasses that I bought were from the brand Chanel and they cost a whopping $450.00! So for that amount I would have to wait a while to get another pair. Those days are over because GlassesUSA.com is here.

Looking through the many options that are available at GlassesUSA.com, you will find a pair that can fit your style and your budget. For example, the iSee 708 Pink eyeglass frames cost at retail $170.00. On the GlassesUSA website, the frames are discounted to $78.00, which includes the lenses. That is a 54% savings off of retail. To get the lenses and frames for under $100.00 is a great value.

These glasses look really chic. If I went elsewhere I would have to pay extra for lenses which can be just as expensive or more than the frames. GlassesUSA.com offers 100% satisfaction guaranteed.  If you’re not satisfied with your glasses you can get a refund or a new pair of glasses.  The customer is first with them and that means a lot to me.
